1st Genetics and Laboratory Medicine Innovation Competition Across Abu Dhabi
and Al Ain Campuses 29th April, 2025

Abu Dhabi University launched the inaugural Genetics and Laboratory Medicine Innovation Competition, bringing
together students from over 30 schools, ADU students, alumni, and partners across its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses.
The event featured keynote speeches, debates, biomedical art exhibits, capstone presentations, and lab sessions. High
school participants explored genetics and diagnostics, while senior students showcased impactful research. Keynote
speakers included Dr. Mohamed Alameri, Dr. Vidya Velagapudi, and Dr. Shaikha Almazrouei. Leadership support from
Prof. Ghassan Aouad, Prof. Hamad Odhabi, and Prof. Barry O’Mahony was instrumental, alongside the contributions
of Dr. Sofyan Maghaydah, Dr. Mohammad Fteiha, and Mr. Salem Aldhaheri. The event was led by Dr. Nermin Eissa and
supported by various ADU departments, faculty, and student ambassadors, including Haya Alassaly and Nouran. The
university looks forward to expanding the competition in 2026.Nutrition Symposium, organized by Sheikh Shakhbout
Medical City. The event focused on the critical importance of dietetics in healthcare and brought together professionals
to discuss key topics in nutrition and clinical practice.
