Biomedical Sciences Team Wins First Place at Abu Dhabi Academic Healthcare
Innovation Challenge 2025

Haya Alassaly, a fourth-year Biomedical Sciences student at Abu Dhabi University, alongside alumni Dana C. and
Aala Ahmed, secured first place in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Academic Healthcare Innovation Challenge, organized by the
Department of Health. Their project introduced a personalized therapeutic approach to slow dementia progression and
improve cognitive health. The project was led by Dr. Nermin Eissa, Chair of the Biomedical Sciences Department, with
support from Dr. Abdulmajeed Almutary, Dr. Najla AlNassar, and Dr. Tania Tahtouh. Recognition was extended to Prof.
Ghassan Aouad (Chancellor), Dr. Sofyan Maghaydah (Dean), and Prof. Montasir Qasymeh for their continuous support
and leadership. This achievement reflects ADU’s commitment to impactful research and innovation in healthcare.
