Learning Beyond the Classroom

A two-day workshop on hazard identification and risk assessment COSHH
Assessment

Students from the Health Risk Management course at Abu Dhabi University, offered by the Department of
Environmental and Public Health, recently participated in a two-day practical workshop on hazard identification and
COSHH risk assessment, hosted by UAE University. This workshop provided students with an opportunity to apply their
theoretical knowledge in a real laboratory setting, engaging in hands-on activities related to hazard identification, risk
evaluation, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) scenarios.

This enriching experience reflects Abu Dhabi University’s commitment to experiential education and preparing future
HSE professionals with the skills and confidence to lead in dynamic safety environments. Sincere appreciation is
extended to Dr. Sofyan Maghaydah, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, and Dr. Rahaf Ajaj, Department Chair
and CSci, SFHEA, for their continued support and leadership. Special thanks also go to Dr. Sabeera Haris for her
dedicated coordination, and to Ms. Jasmine Abdul Rasheed, Laboratory Safety Specialist, along with the Operation and
Emergency Section and FMDHS team at UAE University, for hosting and supporting this valuable learning initiative.
