Emirates Oncology Conference
College of Health Sciences Biomedical Sciences alumna, Ms. Saja Masalmeh, presented her research titled “Predictive
Factors and Treatment Outcomes in BRCA Mutated Ovarian Cancer Cohort in UAE” at the Emirates Oncology
Conference in Abu Dhabi (15-17 November 2024). The project was a collaboration between Dr. Afsheen Raza from
Abu Dhabi University and co-supervisor Khaled Al Qawasmeh from Tawam Hospital. The study highlights the use
of predictive and computational modeling tools for early intervention in BRCA-mutated ovarian cancer cases in the
UAE. The impactful findings are expected to be published soon in a high-impact journal. In addition, Ms. Fathima H.,
a proud alumna of Abu Dhabi University, presented collaborative research findings at a prestigious scientific event.
Her presentation focused on the secondary metabolites Chrysophanol and Fumaric Acid, extracted from Fusarium
redolens, an endophytic isolate from the olive tree (Olea europaea). The study explores the potential therapeutic
applications of these compounds, particularly in oncology. Both presentations reflect the growing research impact of
ADU alumni in advancing healthcare and biomedical sciences.
