Professional Development

Our accreditations by the American Association of Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) and
the European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS) recognize our commitment to
providing graduates with the knowledge, skills, values and mindset to meet the current and future
needs of industry, government and society. In 2022, we reinforced this commitment though a
series of extensive and comprehensive teaching and learning enhancement activities.

Teaching Innovation and Learning Enhancement

In December 2022, the COB engaged Australian pedagogical expert Dr. Gary
Williams to deliver a one-week intensive workshop on program outcome
mapping and assessment for our faculty and senior staff. A follow up
workshop was also provided to our Department Chairs. The College has used
the insights gained from this initiative to restructure its syllabi and assessment
practices. New procedures and guidelines have also been provided to faculty
and the majority of our support processes have now been digitized. These
initiative will have significant benefits for our students.

Advance HE Certified Teaching Fellowships

Among the initiatives to support teaching development, ADU, has committed to providing
professional development programs from Advanced HE, the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
To date, 13 College of Business Faculty have completed the certificate in teaching and learning,
six faculty have been awarded Fellowship status (5 Fellows and 1 Senior Fellow), 10 Faculty have
completed the requirements for Fellowship and are awaiting the outcome and we have a pipeline
of 18 faculty who have registered for the program in 2023. This program is an ADU initiative under
the direction of Professor Philip Hamill, Associate Provost.
