Importance of

Academic Advisor

When selecting a major, it is important to research your options as much as possible. Equally important
is to enroll in the right courses that work toward fulfilling the degree requirements. Do not make the
mistake of enrolling in a course simply because it is convenient or because it fits within your other
schedules. An academic advisor will guide you to reach the best decisions based on your selected
major and provide information as well as options to help you accomplish your major requirements
without wasting time and money on irrelevant classes.

Support Available at ADU

Abu Dhabi University has the best interest of students at heart. It is passionate about providing all
the support needed for students to have a hitch-free-study experience. Financially, a wide range of
scholarships is available from 10% up to 100% waiver on fees. Some of these include the chairman’s
scholarship, athletic scholarship, and academic scholarship. In terms of financial aid, support may
range from 10% to 40% waiver on tuition fees based on ADU policies and procedures. Apart from this,
the university’s Student Support Office (SSO) offers counseling services among others. This service
provides an atmosphere for students to discuss issues from their educational, interpersonal, and
social life in full confidentiality while receiving clarification and advice. Also, other support programs
include academic advising, tutoring, and so much more. Therefore, whatever needs you may have
during your academic journey, ADU has got you covered!

Rights & Responsibilities

of Students

The students are entitled to certain rights that will provide them guarantees for due process and
protection against discrimination. Consequently, Abu Dhabi University is expecting students to do
good conduct by following the responsibilities enumerated in the Undergraduate Handbook 2020-
2021. Failure to implement the responsibilities e.g., not providing security guards with personal
identification, vandalism, harassment and so on and so forth may result in disciplinary action. The rights
and responsibilities go hand-in-hand. Moreover, it is imperative for the students to be conversant with
the UAE laws considering that the students’ rights and responsibilities were developed in reference to
federal and local laws.
