The True Value
of Honesty
WRITTEN BY LYAN ISAM MUSHREF (1080322)
any people lie, and this is normal,
but when lies dominate the course of
M our lives, our efforts, and the fruits
of them, get tarnished by corruption and
deceit. Lying lets us temporarily avoid prob-
lems and uncomfortable situations; however,
it never provides us with a genuine way out
of trouble.
In any situation, the truth, no matter how
bad or ugly it is, remains the most reliable
resource. After one lies about a certain inci-
dent, the facts inevitably start to arise. Lies,
regardless of whom they have been told to
or acted upon, carry an inherent dilemma
within them. Over time, they unravel, expos-
ing the truths they originally attempted to
conceal.
Honesty stands in stark contrast to lying
and deceit; it undeniably aligns with moral
and inner purity, void of the entanglements
of mischief. It is the epitome of virtue and
righteousness: an essential value that life
requires in all its aspects. If all people were
honest, many of the world’s predicaments
would have died out. Hypocrisy, deceit,
abduction, treason, cheating, and even
depression would have found resolution via
unyielding honesty.
