                   Curiosity has sparked human creativity and prosperity for
                   millennia. You may recognize many of the following people
                  who put their curiosity to good use, but let’s take a trip down
                                 memory lane and catch up with them.










                                                            Archimedes


                                                            c. 287 BC — c. 212 BC

                                                            A Greek engineer who is regarded as the

                                                            greatest mathematician of antiquity. He is
                                                            renowned as the “Father of Mathematics”
                                                            and is credited with a lot of advances that
                                                            are still used today (such as the Archimedes
                                                            screw). Archimedes is supposed to have loved
                                                            teasing other mathematicians by providing
                                                            them the answer to a difficult issue but not
                                                            explaining how he arrived at it. He encour-
                                                            aged inquisitiveness among his nobles.
