Fieldtrips: from classroom

to real-world

Field trip to Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Centre:

Student from the department of environmental and public health visited the The Yas SeaWorld Research
& Rescue Center, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, for the 12th World Environmental Education Congress (12th
WEEC2024). Students learned various crucial guidelines on how to receive and care for rescue animals
during the rehabilitation/release journey, the science behind rescues and how citizens can help rescued
wildlife. I addition to these, the students also learned about the research program for aquaculture and
marine ecology with specific information on the importance of planktons as integral part of Ocean Ecology.

Field Trip to Tadweer Group (part of ADQ’s Energy & Utilities portfolio):

Students from the environmental health and safety visited the medical waste, construction waste recycling
facilities and sanitary landfill of Tadweer group in Al-Ain. They learned about critical waste streams and how
these are recycled or treated before landfilling.
