Warmest congratulations to Dr. Nahyan Helal
al-Marri, Adjunct faculty member of Public
Health at the department of Environmental and
Public Health, for being elected as President of
the World Institute of Remote Medicine. The
UK-based Institute of Remote Areas Medicine,
Scotland, is one of the accredited and leading
institutes in providing research, education,
and training to medical staff in the field of
remote area medicine. Over the past 10 years
Dr. Nahyan has contributed significantly with
council members to many scientific and research
development and training in remote area
medicine. Of noteworthy that Dr. Nahyan is also
the first Emirati to specialize in occupational
health medicine. Congratulations Dr. Nayhan,

Dr. Nahyan Helal was also more recently in the
news for his work in occupational health and
safety. Dr. Helal sheds light on the importance
of screening employees for chronic diseases that
could lead to accidents in the workplace. Being
the head of the Holistic Medical Centre, the first
private facility to be licensed as an Occupational
Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Nahyan
emphasized that occupational health is crucial
