               Dr.Sreethi Nair
Dean, College of Arts & Sciences

On May 7th, the Course Assistants, Peer Tutors, and Peer Mentors met virtually with the Dean, Dr. Sreethi Nair
in an open forum to provide an update on the progress made at the ASC. The meeting was also used to pose
queries, discuss options and receive recommendations.
The below are some of the highlights of the session:

1 . It was decided that the ASC staff will continue to use the online platforms to tutor. So students will have the
option to select between online sessions or physical ones even after the university opens.

2 . A new group of course assistants will join the team for the summer semester based on the semester
workload and course requirements that students have to meet.

3 . The financial remunerations for the course assistants were discussed, and Dr. Sreethi has said that she
would evaluate and come to a decision on that.

4 . The overall strategies to attract more students and maintain a strong repository of resources were reviewed.
The brainstorming helped modify gaps in the existing methodologies and introduce new tactics to enhance
           the ASC’s working capabilities.

Regarding the summer semester, Dr.Sreethi confirmed that the ASC will be accepting applications for course
assistants, peer tutors, and peer mentors to ensure that students receive all the help they require .The conversation
reiterated that synergy established between the ASC and the faculty had to be and would be maintained to ensure
that the ASC can work effectively to assist the students. Dr. Sreethi’s commitment to fund the ASC helps in making
sure the necessary resources are in place. This would in turn alleviate the academic burden of the students.

Overall, the meeting was timely. The various speakers focused on the academic support they offered to students
and also dwelt on relationships forged with the ASC. We hope to continue this good work in the future too.
