Tutors

ASC is designed in a way that works on helping students become academically successful and
acquire essential skills. I am immensely glad to be part of this process as a tutor. It has helped
me develop professionally and hone my potential as a mentor and a tutor. Of course, the
satisfaction of being able to help my peers improve and achieve good grades is unparalleled. I
am fortunate to be given a role at the ASC and hope to help a lot more students in the coming
semesters.

The tutoring system at the ASC provides ADU’s students with many advantageous opportunities.
I was a bit nervous when I first started tutoring since it was my first experience, but as I
continued, I realized just how much this program has helped me adjust to university life. My
confidence and teamwork skills, which are critical in university, have improved. My tutees have
also indicated that these one-on-one sessions have helped them a lot academically because it
allows them to practice more and have all their questions answered. This has been an amazing
learning experience for me!

First and foremost, the assistance that I have been able to give my tutees has been gratifying.
Although they have asked me questions that they already knew the answers to, I was not
bothered by this because I wanted them to learn, or as you say ‘master’ the concept. Moreover,
one of my students was very keen to learn, as he was working towards getting a better score.
In fact, he thanked me so much because he got an outstanding mark that he never expected to
receive, but I believed in him. My time at the ASC has been very useful for me and look forward
to being a tutor again because I have gained such valuable experience that I will never take it
for granted!

Tutoring has helped me understand how enriching it can be to share knowledge and exchange
experiences. It is a great learning curve for me in addition to being able to equip my peers
with the academic know-how to cope with their classes. I highly appreciate ASC for giving me
the opportunity to help other students in their studies. The Academic Success Center has a
very warm environment with a great team who I look forward to working together with in the
upcoming semesters as well.
