Educational Qualification:
I obtained my Ph.D. in Environment and Natural Resources in 2015 from the University of
Freiburg in Germany. It is ranked among the top universities in Germany and Europe and
one of the oldest universities in Germany, founded in 1457.
Work Experience:
I am currently the Al-Ain Coordinator of the College of Health Sciences and Associate Pro-
fessor of Environmental Health and Safety. The five years before joining ADU (2015-2020),
I worked for the University of Freiburg and the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany, where I
had teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
Career Goals:
Teaching brings immense satisfaction as it enables me to assist students in shaping their
futures and preparing them to make a meaningful impact on their surroundings. Addition-
ally, through my research on waste conversion to energy and high-value materials, I aim
to contribute value to the scientific community and offer solutions for real-life sustaina-
bility challenges.
What you appreciate about working in ADU:
I very much value the teamwork spirit in Al-Ain campus. We all go the extra mile to sup-
port each other and contribute to ADU’s growth and reputation. It is, indeed, the best
work environment ever.
A Book that has deeply inspired you:
“The Highly Sensitive Person” by Prof. Elaine Aron has significantly impacted my personal
and professional life. It discusses the world of heightened sensitivity, offering understand-
ing and validation to those who experience life with deeper emotional intensity. Through
research and personal anecdotes, Prof. Aron explores the unique traits and challenges
faced by highly sensitive individuals, providing strategies for navigating the world with
greater resilience and self-awareness.
A personal achievement you are proud of:
I take great pride in my three patents and research publications on the development of
green materials and processes. I am also honored to have received several prestigious
German and international awards, such as the Sigrid- and Viktor-Dulger Ecology Prize 2017
from the University of Heidelberg, the Hansjürg-Steinlin Prize 2016 from the University of
Freiburg, the Gold Medal 2016 from the International Academy of Wood Science, and the
Leo-Schörghuber Prize 2015 from the Technical University of Munich. Additionally, I was
granted the esteemed Wilhelm-Klauditz Fellowship (2017-2020) from the Fraunhofer In-
stitute.
Interests & Hobbies:
As an avid aviation enthusiast, I diligently keep up with the latest news about new planes
and eagerly watch documentaries showcasing them. I also take pleasure in spotting planes
at nearby airports, always eager for the opportunity to witness the marvels of aviation up
close.
The individual you admire the most:
My dad served as my guiding light, offering wisdom and direction throughout my life's
journey.
