Teaching and
Learning Sub-committee
How does the Subcommittee collaborate with other ADU committees or departments to enhance teaching
and learning practices?
T&L Subcommittee is one of the most active committees at the institutional level. From its inception as the
first steps, we are ensuring the reviewing and updating of all T&L-related policies and procedures with the
support the Chancellor’s office. The committee works very closely with the smart learning center on the Faculty
development activities associated with T&L. We will be continuing our collaborative work with all entities
related to the successful creation and launch of the T&L Strategy.
What are some challenging the Subcommittee has encountered
in its efforts to improve teaching and learning practices, and
how have these been addressed?
Huge task and a pressing timeline. Plus, ever changing T&L
environment worldwide. Keeping up and updating and having all
the board is challenging.
How does the Subcommittee measure the effectiveness or
impact of its initiatives?
Still not done. This is an area that we are to work on as part of the
T&L strategy planning.
What is the Subcommittee’s vision for the future, and what key
strategies or directions are being considered to achieve this
vision?
Must ensure we have quality assurance practices that will keep ADU as the best T&L university in the region.
How does the Subcommittee foster a culture of collaborative learning among faculty and staff within the
ADU community?
For now, through the support of the Smart Learning Center. With the T&L strategy in place, we will use that as
the guide.
For other institutions or committees looking to establish similar initiatives, what advice or insights would
you share based on your experience of leading the ADU Teaching and Learning Subcommittee?
Be resilient and accept the changes that are inevitable and work for the best of the students and the institution.
