Could you provide an overview of the ADU Teaching and Learning Subcommittee’s primary purpose and its
role within the broader ADU vision and mission?
The Institutional Teaching and Learning Subcommittee was conceptualized as Teaching and Learning as one
of the Key pillars of ADU’s Strategic growth. Through the committee, we are providing strategic oversight of
all aspects of teaching and learning at ADU, at the institutional level, in all Colleges, on all campuses, and at
all program levels. The Sub Committee works towards quality assurance in the Curriculum development and
delivery and ensuring student success for skilled employability.
What specific objectives does the Subcommittee aim to achieve in its initiatives?
Holistic Quality Assurance in Teaching and Learning.
As the ADU Teaching and Learning Subcommittee chair, what responsibilities do you oversee?
Support and work with the members of the committee to ensure we at ADU continue to provide the best
Teaching and Learning environment for our students and faculty.
What motivated you to take on this leadership position, and what personal or professional experiences
inform your approach?
Student Engagement was the reason for me taking up this role. I truly believe in that a student’s success depends
on their engagement and this is 100% depending on the Teaching and Learning component of education. The
famous quote I reflect on every time and advocate for student engagement is, “If we teach today’s students as
we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” - John Dewey.
What ongoing or upcoming initiatives is the Subcommittee currently focusing on?
The T&L subcommittee is currently working on the development ADU’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
