Interview with the Chair of the Teaching
and Learning Sub-committee
Dr. Sreethi Nair is Dean of the College of Arts, Education, and So-
cial Sciences at Abu Dhabi University since 2007, Chair of Teaching
and Learning Sub-committee, specialized in Education Psychology,
focusing on student success, faculty development, and skills for fu-
ture work. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Psychology from
the University of Kerala, India with research on student study habits
and procrastination. Dr. Nair emphasizes holistic teaching and career
competency development, and has participated in programs like Har-
vard University’s Management Development Program. Prior to her
current role, she taught psychology in India and has been a consult-
ant for higher education institutions.
▪ Could you please provide an update on the progress of ADU’s Teaching and Learning Strategy?
Specifically, what key milestones have been accomplished since our last discussion?
The institutional Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (TLA) Strategic Plan is prepared for
launch after a productive four-month development process. This comprehensive plan was metic-
ulously crafted by a dedicated team of seven members, representing all colleges, who collabo-
rated to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
The 5-Year Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Strategic Plan of Abu Dhabi University (ADU)
seeks to enhance educational quality while fostering an inclusive and innovative learning envi-
ronment. Aligned with ADU's vision to emerge as a global leader in education, the plan empha-
sizes academic excellence, sustainability, and ethical practices. Central to this vision are 21 faculty
attributes identified as essential for effective teaching, which serve as a foundation for the plan’s
objectives.
The strategic plan outlines seven major priorities that address critical aspects of teaching,
learning, and assessment:
