The workshop was conducted during the “Synergy in Action: Environmental and Public Health Nexuses”
Symposium and Exhibition. It aimed to demonstrate the creative and innovative work of students at the

Algae Applications: From Developmental Models to Therapeutic Innovations Seminar:
Dr. Alok Arun, an Associate Professor in the Institute of Sustainable Biotechnology, department of Science
and Technology at Inter American University of Puerto Rico (IAUPR), USA was invited by Dr. Tania Tahtouh
to deliver a seminar about the utility of algae as a model system for understanding developmental
mechanisms and its potential applications for therapeutics.
