Advanced Laboratory Facilities at Abu Dhabi University
At the Abu Dhabi campus, students benefit from a comprehensive suite of advanced laboratories designed
to enhance practical learning and research in the life sciences. The General Laboratory is equipped with
essential tools such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, centrifuges, and water baths, providing a strong
foundation for basic experiments in biology and chemistry. The Molecular Biology Laboratory features
state-of-the-art instruments including PCR machines, gel electrophoresis units, UV transilluminators, and
biosafety cabinets, enabling students to perform genetic engineering, molecular diagnostics, and DNA/
RNA analysis. The Special Chemistry and Histology Laboratory offers a unique integration of biochemical
testing and microscopic tissue analysis, helping students understand both the chemical and structural
aspects of biological samples. The Cell Biology Laboratory supports advanced cellular research, with
equipment such as CO₂ incubators, laminar flow hoods, microscopes, and cell counters. These facilities
enable students to develop skills in aseptic techniques, microscopy, and cell viability assays. All laboratories
adhere to strict safety protocols and incorporate digital tools for data analysis, creating a research-driven
environment aligned with international best practices.
At the Al Ain campus, the university offers a range of specialized laboratories that support teaching and
research in life sciences, nutrition, and health. The General Lab provides the essential infrastructure for
introductory experiments, equipped with centrifuges, microscopes, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
The Molecular Biology Lab supports advanced genetic analysis and molecular techniques, featuring thermal
cyclers, gel documentation systems, electrophoresis apparatus, and biosafety cabinets. Furthermore, the
Food Chemistry Lab is designed for in-depth food analysis, focusing on the composition, quality, and safety
of food items using specialized analytical tools. The Nutrition Assessment Lab allows students to conduct
comprehensive nutritional evaluations using anthropometric measurements, body composition analyzers,
and dietary assessment software. Additionally, the Kitchen Lab simulates a real-world culinary environment
where students apply their knowledge of nutrition in food preparation, menu planning, and healthy cooking
practices.Together, the laboratories at both campuses provide a dynamic, hands-on learning environment
that supports undergraduate and postgraduate education, interdisciplinary research, and professional
skill development. These facilities prepare students for impactful careers in scientific research, healthcare,
public health, and the nutrition and wellness industry.
