Painting of Flaws
BY MANAHIL M. RASHID (1075482)
A painted canvas is worth
Much more than a brand new one
As our eyes admire the beauty
That emerges in the artwork
Yet when it comes to our own skin
We run from that helpless
Have we so soon forgotten
The value carried by such
The remarks we put up with
The grandeur we conceal
For if we pause to consider
These ‘flaws’ are what beautify us
Perfection is nothing but a myth
A fib that costs many their contentment
Have we forgotten yet again
That a painted canvas is always worth more
Loving Hate
BY LEEN MOHAMAD (1075482)
Hate: one of the strongest forms of chaos
Yet she embraced me lovingly, oh so tenderly
During the calm before the storm
Whispering venomous lies ever so warm
I could no longer fight back
Thunder and lightning rumbled and cracked
Lacking the strength I once had
It broke me down till I went mad
My dear, watch me emerge
Through the clouds, for can’t you see?
Darkness – in all its glory is not vulnerability
