My first introduction to the Academic Success Center (ASC) at ADU was through the peer mentorship
program, which pairs incoming freshmen with senior students as their Peer Mentors. I still remember how
nervous I was about transitioning to a university environment that felt so different from high school. My
Peer Mentor in my first semester was incredibly kind; she introduced me to everything I needed to know
and the resources available to me, which helped alleviate my worries.

From her, I learned that the ASC not only supports academic achievement but also focuses on upskilling
and enhancing employability. Recognizing the value of these resources, I was eager to engage with the ASC
community and make the most of my university experience, leading me to become a regular participant
in its programs.

In addition to benefiting from the ASC, I served as the Academic Success and Peer Mentorship Representative
on the Student Council. This role allowed me to actively contribute to initiatives aimed at improving academic
support for all students. Alongside the dedicated Academic Tutors, we organized workshops focused on
practical skills such as effective studying and time management and facilitated programs that connected
students with vital resources to assist them in their studies.

My involvement with the ASC provided me with valuable skills in leadership, communication, and
collaboration. Working alongside peers and mentors, I learned how to effectively engage with a diverse
group of students and address their academic challenges. These experiences enriched my understanding
of the educational landscape and bolstered my confidence in taking on leadership roles.

The insights and skills I gained through the ASC have significantly impacted my career aspirations in
executive search. Understanding individual strengths and matching them with opportunities parallels the
work I aspire to do with candidates and clients. Moreover, the emphasis on effective communication and
organization in my role has equipped me to navigate the complexities of building professional relationships
in a fast-paced environment.
