Editor’s Note
Fatma Durrani
Editor-in-Chief have realized that change is something we — as people
who, admittedly, hold a natural aversion to it — cannot
I escape no matter how far we run, and how many corners
we turn, hoping it is lost in its efforts to trail us. It is the
Safia Alaaeldin justification that we employ without thinking, the one that
Mahjoub proliferates itself across spaces we fill in. It is present at the
Senior Visual Editor start and end of every war; the rise and fall of every empire;
the simple solution of every complicated equation; the inciting
incident of every moral quandary; and it is even here, sitting
Abdul Faisal next to you right now, waiting for you to look over to it.
Mohammed Unfortunately, in accordance with true human fashion, we do
Graphic Designer not turn our heads until we are forced to.
As such, this edition of ADU Voice is marked by a significant
Haaniya change within the base structure of our university magazine.
Samsutheen Our hopes were to challenge the previous notions that
Graphic Designer led the magazine, and while we are grateful for our past
accomplishments, we hope to take a new direction with the
release of this edition. By utilizing the digital aspects of the
Lyan Isam magazine, through QR codes, we have aimed to make the
Mushref magazine more interactive for our readership and have an
Writer even bigger announcement for the very near future. While this
transformation is still in progress and we are nowhere near
done, if this journey has taught us anything, it is that change
Mariam Hany
Khattab is an intricately slow and deeply dense, almost impenetrable,
process; the fruits of which we may not see for an unspecified
Writer amount of time.
Sarah Ibrahim The prose, poems, and stylistic choices within the binds of this
Sakr edition are a testament of the hard work of our students who
Writer output the ideas of their minds onto the once blank pages in
front of them. Notably, we would like to express an immense
amount of gratitude towards Ms. Bianca Jenna Roberts and
Waad Elamin Dr. Ahmed Almahamed for being our English and Arabic
Mukhtar Managing Editors, respectively, and dedicating large periods of
Writer time to enhancing the overall quality of the magazine through
their professional lenses.
Ms. Bianca Jenna As for you, the reader, flip through our pages and think of what
Roberts change you have been putting off. What are you avoiding?
Managing English And what for? It is sitting next to you and staring you in the
Editor face. Force yourself to do it before anyone or anything else
pushes you to; look at it and be the one in charge of your own
Dr. Ahmad Metamorphosis.
