Contrasting Views:
Why True Crime SHOULD be
made into drama series.
BY RABIYA SHAUKAT (1075090)
he genre of true crime, which en-
grosses viewers in the terrifying
Ttruths of real-life mysteries as well
as criminal investigations, has seen a rev-
olutionary transition into episodic televi-
sion, enthralling people everywhere. The
transition from stand-alone documenta-
ries to serialized storytelling has improved
the narrative experience tremendously
while also expanding the field of inqui-
ry. The choice to keep turning true crime
stories into television shows is evidence of
its significant influence on viewers along
with society at large.
True crime shows’ serial format provides
an unmatched chance to explore the intri-
cacies of each case in more detail. Series
provide a thorough investigation of the
crime, the people involved, and the social
ramifications, in contrast to one-off doc-
umentaries that sometimes just touch the
surface of a topic. Every episode builds on
the previous one, revealing more details
about the complex network of motives,
outcomes, and events, while encouraging
the viewer to develop a deeper compre-
hension of the crime.
